Judging Criterias

A good balance between unique, simple and catchy
Has to have a bridge
Instrumental backing is well suited and played with rhythmic and melodic accuracy according to the melodic line
Chords that are a mix of interesting and simple/repetitious
Sung in an appropriate key for the voice
Harmonies are preferred
Follows a sensible structure or form
Sung in pitch
Contain an original riff that is repeated in sections such as intro, after chorus, etc. or a well crafted intrumental
  • Song Structure and Composition

    The song has to have a clear or cohesive idea with clearly identifiable sections, verse, chorus, etc. within the 2-5 minutes duration

  • Originality and Creativity

    The song has to express the theme in a new, fresh or a creative way while being memorable and has the potential to impact and bring conviction to the hearts of listeners

  • Lyrics

    The lyrics are to evoke an emotional response from the listeners while being memorable and singable with an identifiable rhyme scheme or pattern

  • Music and

    The music and melody of the song is to add to the emotional impact of the song, and manage to keep the listener interested and engaged while fitting together with the lyric in a cohesive manner

Writing Music



  1. Contestants are allowed to submit multiple entries for the Contest but only one entry will be considered for the prize in respect of the same participants.

  2. Contestants must submit an audio recording Mp3 (Joint Stereo 256 kbps), of the song that contains both music instrumentation and vocals. 

  3. Each contestant should submit the title and lyrics of the song in PDF and indicate all co-writers' names.

  4. All song entries by contestants are to be in English only.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Only original songs will be considered for the competition. Previously composed songs are therefore excluded. Any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the entry.

  2. Copyright in all contributions accepted will remain with the contestants, and they are free to re-use their own material.

  3. The organizers reserve the absolute right to use names, photographs, videos and other materials obtained during the competition for publication purposes during, and/ or after the event.

  4. Communication with contestants will be based on information stated on the website. 

  5. The organizers reserve the absolute rights to disqualify any contestant who fails to provide valid contact details. 

  6. All entries must follow the terms and conditions. 

  7. All decisions in connection with the contest shall be final, conclusive and binding. 

  8. By participating in the contest, the contestants agree not to challenge and/or object to any decisions made by organisers. No further appeal, enquiry and/or correspondence will be entertained.
